The Imperial Valley LGBT Resource Center has announced the launch of a new LGBTQ youth support group to serve young people in the Imperial Valley. The center has been dedicated to offering support programs, resources, and a sense of community for individuals of all ages in Imperial County since it opened in 2015. Its mission is to create a safe place and empower members of the LGBT community by connecting them to essential services and support networks.

The new support group is designed for LGBTQ individuals between the ages of twelve and twenty one. It will provide a supportive environment where youth can meet other young people who are facing similar challenges, share their experiences, and build community. The group will focus on emotional wellbeing, personal growth, and resilience. Participants will have the opportunity to express themselves, to learn supportive coping strategies, and to develop friendships in a setting that values respect and acceptance.

A Community of Support and Understanding

Youth in the Imperial Valley who are navigating issues related to identity, belonging, mental health, and social acceptance will find a welcoming community through the support group. The group will offer guidance and encouragement for those who may feel isolated or uncertain. It is open to all LGBTQ youth who wish to connect with others who understand their experiences.

The Imperial Valley LGBT Resource Center has a history of offering services that help individuals of all ages in the community. The center provides counseling, education, support groups, and referrals to additional community resources. All services are provided free of charge unless otherwise noted.

Why This Group Matters

Support during adolescence and young adulthood can make a meaningful difference in the lives of LGBTQ youth. For many young people, having a safe place to speak honestly about their identity and feelings can reduce stress and foster confidence. This group will help participants feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate important life transitions.

The Imperial Valley LGBT Resource Center encourages all interested youth to attend and to discover the benefits of connecting with others in a positive and affirming space. For more details about the support group schedule and how to participate, members of the community may contact the center directly at the number listed on its website.
