IVLGBT and Emotional Intelligence in Anger Management
The Imperial Valley LGBT Resource Center now offers an Anger Management Program that focuses on building emotional intelligence skills to help participants better understand and manage anger in healthy ways.
What Is Emotional Intelligence in Anger Management
The program teaches participants how to recognize, understand, and regulate their emotions, especially anger. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in improving communication, strengthening relationships, and making thoughtful decisions during stressful situations.
Anger is a natural emotion. When it is not managed properly, it can affect mental health, relationships, work performance, and overall well being. The program teaches participants how to understand anger rather than ignore it, and how to respond in constructive and responsible ways.
How the Program Teaches Emotional Intelligence
Through structured activities, guided discussions, and practical coping strategies, participants learn to:
Identify emotional triggers and warning signs
Develop self awareness and self control
Practice healthy communication skills
Strengthen decision making under stress
Track personal growth and progress
The program provides a supportive and judgment free environment where participants can learn, reflect, and build emotional regulation skills with guidance from trained professionals.

I was court mandated to attend this program, and I was worried it would be complicated or uncomfortable. Getting set up for the sessions was a breeze, and the facilitators made the experience supportive and educational. I learned how to manage my anger and understand my emotions in ways I never thought possible.
